The Detroit Diesel Series 60 12.7 was the most successful Detroit Diesel engine ever produced, the Series 60 was also the first engine in the world to fully utilize electronic engine controls. It has been used extensively in trucks, boats, power generators, fire and emergency vehicles and mining equipment.
The Series 60 12.7 is an inline-six 4 stroke diesel engine. It differs from most on-highway engines by using an overhead camshaft and "drive by wire" electronic control.
